Dume Office is in beta. It’s available today on macOS and Windows, but expect rough edges while it’s being finished.
.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, and .pdf files on your machine, not a proprietary format, and each one has Dume’s AI copilot working inside it.
The AI copilot works inside the file
Every Dume Office app has the same Dume agent built in, not a separate assistant. Ask it to do anything you’d otherwise do by hand: write a first draft, rewrite or reformat a selection, restructure a whole document, clean up a spreadsheet, redesign a slide, or answer a question about a PDF you have open. It reads and edits the file directly, so you stay in the app instead of copying generated text in from a chat window.Three ways to open a file
1
Ask in chat
Describe what you want in any Dume session, e.g. “Create a slide deck about our Q3 launch,” and Dume opens the matching editor with a first draft ready to review.
2
Start from Dume Office directly
Open Dume Office in Cowork and use New File to start a blank Doc, Sheet, Slide deck, or PDF without going through chat first.
3
Open an existing file
Open a local
.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, or .pdf from Cowork and it launches in the matching native editor, already editable.Working with Google Drive files
Dume Office edits files on your machine, it doesn’t edit a Google Doc or Sheet live the way the Google Docs and Google Sheets integrations do. To edit a Drive file in Dume Office: download it, edit it locally with the AI copilot, then push the updated file back to Drive when you’re done. The four apps

How is this different from the Google Docs / Sheets integrations?
How is this different from the Google Docs / Sheets integrations?
The integrations edit a file that lives in Google Drive, over the API, and it never leaves Drive. Dume Office edits a real file on your machine. You can move a file between the two by downloading it from Drive into Dume Office, or pushing a local file back up to Drive.

No. It needs local file access, which is a Cowork desktop feature. See Web app vs. Cowork desktop.
Is it stable enough for real work?
Is it stable enough for real work?
It’s in beta. It’s usable day to day, but expect occasional rough edges while it’s actively being finished. If something breaks, file it in the community or check Troubleshooting.
