Why it matters

Dume reads your profile before it answers, so the same question gets a different answer depending on who’s asking. “Summarize this PRD” reads differently for a solo founder tracking activation metrics than it does for an engineering manager tracking sprint velocity, once you’ve told Dume which one you are. This profile follows you everywhere — web, Cowork desktop, WhatsApp, or a phone call all read the same one.

Set up your profile

Go to Settings → Profile.

Identity

Your name, email, username, timezone, and location. Timezone and location matter more than they look: they’re what keep a briefing landing in your morning instead of someone else’s.
Location has a Detect button if you’d rather not type it in.

Goals & context

Occupation and Bio — this is where specificity pays off. “Software developer” gets you generic answers; “backend engineer specializing in Node.js” gets you answers pitched at that level.

Agent preferences

  • Communication style — Balanced, Formal, Casual, or Concise
  • Measurement system — Imperial or Metric
  • Use emojis — on or off
  • Custom instructions — anything else you want Dume to always keep in mind

System preferences

Language (English, Español, or 中文) and your default AI model.

Save changes

Changes take effect on your next message — there’s no waiting period.

Make sure you’re logged in and on the latest version of the app. It lives under Settings → Profile.
Give Dume a few exchanges to pick up on your profile, and add more specifics to Occupation and Bio rather than one-word answers — the more concrete, the better the match.
