# Voice Mode

> Talk to Dume out loud in a live spoken conversation, without leaving the app or picking up the phone.

Voice mode opens a live, real-time spoken conversation with Dume inside the app. Open it from the voice icon next to the message box.

While it's active you'll see a waveform, a running transcript of both sides of the conversation, and controls to mute or end the call. You can interrupt Dume mid-response, the same as you would talking to a person, and it isn't limited to English — voice mode follows whatever language you speak. It picks up the same context as the session you opened it from, but the transcript itself doesn't carry over to History once the call ends; it only exists while the call is active.

Voice mode is one of three ways to talk to Dume without typing, and each does something different:
